Book highlights P-fertilizer efficiency
“Phosphorus Management in Crop Production”, 360 pages, is a book written in English and recently launched by CRC Press. The work brings recommendations about phosphorus management to increase efficiency and improve crop production. It is an important topic since only 20% to 30% of the phosphorus applied as fertilizer is actually used by annual crops in tropical soils. The publication is aimed at students, lecturers, scientists, rural extension specialists, and professionals working in the Agrarian Sciences.
The book, which is divided into eight chapters, encompasses practical applied information about phosphorus, resulting from both years of experiments in greenhouses and crop fields and from lab analyses. Some topics the book especially addresses are climate, soil, and crop system factors that interfere with phosphorus availability for plants; techniques to diagnose crop demand for the nutrient; and the impact of fertilizer loss through leaching and erosion.
“Phosphorus Management in Crop Production” was authored by Nand Kumar Fageria, a late researcher from Embrapa Rice and Beans; Zhenli L. He, a professor from the University of Florida; and Virupax C. Baligar, a scientist from the United States Department of Agriculture.
