Optimizing Local Productive Set Ups in the Productive Chain of the Cupuaçu Tree ( Theobroma grandiflorum) in the State o Pará Through the Development of Technologies
The productive local set ups (APLs) of the Cupuacú tree represent how it is possible to develop agriculture with environmental and social responsibility. This is so because great part of the family farmers and small farmers set up their orchards in already deforested areas, in intercropping systems with temporary and permanent species, once the cupuaçú tree accepts moderate levels of shading. These orchard set ups try to emulate the forest environment, especially in the control of soil erosion and rainwater harvesting. The diversity of species, each with different reproductive cycles, promote a higher economic and biology sustainability as well as a continuous cash flow which starts in the orchard's first year of installation.
This research aims to develop technologies that promote productive chain adjustments in local productive arrangements of the cupuaçú tree currently in use in the state of Pará, with the intent to promote higher socioeconomic sustainability in the cultive of this fruit tree.
