Quarantine Pests: territorial subsidies for prevention and contingency in Brazil

Enter multiple e-mails separated by comma.

In order to support strategies for surveillance, monitoring and control of quarantine pests, this project foresees the identification of areas that are favorable to the entry and spread of eleven (11) exotic quarantine pests, considering the potential risk routes of introduction and/or dispersion in the Brazilian territory. For strategic territorial mappings, the project will use georeferenced and bioecological information on target pests, as well as the location and availability of federal and state agricultural surveillance posts, primary and secondary host crops, probable entry routes, presence of favorable climatic areas, among others. The Project team includes professionals from Embrapa Territorial and from the Department of Plant Health, MAPA, specialists in target pests from Embrapa research centers and from other national and international institutions, such as the Executive Committee of the Cocoa Crop Plan (CEPLAC) and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)/Colombia. The expected Project outcomes are cartographic maps and geospatial databases. The databases resulting from the studies will be made available through the official repository of Embrapa (Geoinfo).
