Resumo: [Effect of antioxidant addition on the cryopreservation medium on the goat sperm motility after thawing]. Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of antioxidant Reveratrol added to semen cryopreservation extender, on the maintenance of post-thaw sperm motility. Ejaculates from two bucks of American Alpine breed were evaluated and diluted to contain 400 x 106 cells/ml, in Tris-egg yolk extender and supplemented with Resveratrol (4, 6 or 8 ?g?ml), or no antioxidant (control). The semen was loaded into 0.25ml straws, cooled and frozen in a programmable freezer and stored in liquid nitrogen. The supplementation of extender with 4 and 8 mg/ml Resveratrol had a significant (P<0.05) effect on post-thawingsperm motility and TDM, when compared to the control, indicating that the antioxidant was able to protect sperm membranes during the cryopreservation process.
