Summary: A cultivar BRS 372 tem sua origem no cruzamento biparental entre as variedades Cacique INTA e CNPA ITA 90. A partir da semente híbrida F1, por autofecndação, obteve-se sementes da população segregante F2. Empregando-se o método de seleção genealógica, na safra 2001/2002, em Santa Helena de Goiás, GO, selecionou-se dentro da população segregante F2 a planta 5001.
