Summary: Resumo: Objetivou-se descrever o uso da árvore problema como ferramenta para problematizar o planejamento participativo em projeto de desenvolvimento rural. A estratégia metodológica foi a pesquisa participativa com a adoção de Metodologia de inovação social, para a identificação de problemas e a sua priorização com técnicas de visualização. A árvore problema foi aplicada no entendimento das causas e efeitos da falta da autonomia de instalações para produção animal. Os dados foram qualitativos e analisados pela análise de conteúdo. [Problem tree as a tool to problematize local reality in participatory planning for rural development project]. Abstract: The objective of this study was to describe the use of the problem tree as a tool to problematize the participatory planning in rural development project. The methodological strategy was the participative research with the adoption of the methodology of social innovation, to identify problems and their prioritization with visualization techniques. The problem tree was applied in understanding the causes and effects of the lack of autonomy of housing for livestock production. Data were qualitative and analyzed by content analysis.
