Summary: Leafcutter ants can cause serious damage to vineyards. In the Serra Gaúcha region, the main wine grape-producing center in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, leafcutter ants of the genus Acromyrmex (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) have been damaging the grape crop.
