Summary: O experimento foi conduzido, sob delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com 5 tratamentos, 4 repetições e 4 plantas por parcela. Avaliou-se cinco tipos de preparo do solo: T1- cova do tamanho do torrão (19 x 6,3cm) com adubação em cobertura; T2- cova de 0,30 x 0,30 x 0,30m com adubação de plantio na cova; T3- Idem T2 com adubação em cobertura; T4- cova de 0,50 x 0,50 x 0,50m com adubação de plantio na cova; e T5- Idem T4 com adubação em cobertura. O tamanho da cova e o plantio direto não influenciaram no vigor da planta. O número de frutos por planta e a produtividade na 2a e no total das duas safras, foram maiores com plantio direto e com covas de 0,30m. The experiment was carried under experimental design in randomized blocks with 5 treatments and 4 replicates with 4 plants for plot. It was evaluated five types of preparation of the soil: T1- hole of the size of the clod (19 x 6,3cm) with manuring in covering; T2- hole of 0.30 x 0.30 x 0.30m with planting manuring in the hole; T3 - similar the T2, with manuring in covering; T4 - hole of 0.50 x 0.50 x 0.50m with planting manuring in the hole; and T5 - similar the T4, with manuring in covering. The size of the hole and the no-tillage didn't influence in the vigor of the plant. The number of fruits for plant and the yield in the 2a crop and in the total of the two crops, they were larger with no-tillage and with holes of 0.30m.
