Summary: The reproductive efficiency is considered one of the main factors that interfere in the productivity of dairy herd. The objective of this work is to evaluate the impact of improvement of the reproductive indexes on the composition, gross income and efficiency of the dairy herds of Acre. Nine population structures with different combinations of lactation (800, 2,000 and 3,500 kg / lactation) and calving intervals (12, 15 and 18 months) were simulated in the SAS. The reproductive and productive data were then analyzed over a period of ten years. There was an increase in total gross income over 10 years from 9,850.83 to 37,698.42 and the additional production of three calves per cow. It was also observed a greater proportion of importance of the sale of the calf in the composition of the gross income in population structure with lower milk production, this relative importance reduced as the production increased. Thus, it is concluded that the increase in milk production associated with the reduction in the calving intervals leads to a significant increase in total gross income and economic return to the producer.
