Summary: The Industrial Property Law number 9.279, from 1996, established the Brazilian legislation on geographical indications (GI). Normative Instruction number 25/2013 of the National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI establishes the conditions for the registration of geographical indications, whether in modality of ?Indicação de Procedência? (IP) or ?Denominação de Origem? (DO).
