Summary: Os trigos sintéticos resultam do cruzamento entre uma espécie tetraploide (Triticum turgidum, AABB) e uma espécie diploide (Aegilops tauschii, DD), originando um híbrido estéril, seguido por duplicação cromossômica através de colchicina para restabelecer um trigo hexaplóide fértil.
