Summary: This book addresses sustainable goods and services consumption, defined here as goods and services use that serves the basic needs, providing a better quality of life, and reduces the use of natural resources and toxic materials, waste production, and pollutant emission throughout the product or service life cycle, so as to not jeopardize the needs of future generations. The challenges of Brazilian research on agriculture and livestock on behalf of sustainable development are numerous, including organizing all knowledge created into a system, method standardization and integration, transformation of knowledge into solutions to be directly used by society, appropriate financial resources, bringing scientists and decision makers closer together, among others. Embedded in its mission, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) seeks to contribute to sustainable development of agriculture based on its research results
