Summary: The current reality requires educational, research and extension institutions to have greater interaction with farmers, in order to consolidate and create strategies that enhance production and trade systems for organic/agroecological products. The expansion of farmers' perception of beneficial biodiversity will contribute to conservative biological control, which is essential for pesticide-free production. The article in question describes the methodology developed to expand the exchange of knowledge with family farmers on the biological control agents present in the Ribeirão Jequitibá basin. The dynamics detailed here can favor the horizontal dialogue and contribute to strengthen the links between the community and the local biodiversity, which are fundamental for the shared management of the region's water resources.
