Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of ozone gas application in a bioreactor for reducing total fumonisin levels in naturally contaminated corn grains. Corn samples were subjected to ozonation for varying durations (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 hours) and analyzed for total fumonisin (B1+B2) content. The results demonstrated a remarkable reduction in fumonisin levels, with a maximum decrease of 94.4% achieved after 4 hours of ozone treatment. This reduction effectively brought the corn samples within the most stringent acceptable standards (<1000 µg kg-1) for feed production. The findings highlight the potential of ozone as an eco-friendly and efficient method for mitigating fumonisin contamination in corn grains.
