Summary: RESUMO- Com o crescente interesse pelo bem-estar animal na criação de gado leiteiro, as fazendas estão melhorando suas práticas de manejo para aumentarem sua produtividade. Este estudo visou analisar o manejo alimentar e de aleitamento de bezerras em propriedades leiteiras, destacando bem-estar e saúde dos animais jovens, para orientar os produtores na otimização do atendimento às necessidades fisiológicas e comportamentais das bezerras, e consequentemente, melhorar sua produtividade. Para realizar o estudo, foram consultadas as bases de dados Scielo, Google Acadêmico e Pubmed. O manejo alimentar é fundamental para o bem-estar das bezerras leiteiras, incluindo colostro, aleitamento, desaleitamento, alimentação com concentrado e volumoso, e acesso à água. Uma má gestão alimentar pode resultar em deficiências nutricionais prejudiciais, especialmente após o desaleitamento. O enriquecimento nutricional e ambiental pode melhorar a dieta das bezerras. Com isso, um manejo alimentar que segue os padrões naturais das bezerras leiteiras tem melhorado significativamente sua qualidade de vida, reduzindo comportamentos indesejados e promovendo desenvolvimento mais saudável levando a um aumento de consumo alimentar, diminuição do desconforto, desenvolvimento animal mais rápido e saudável, resultando em maior produção. ABSTRACT- With growing interest in animal welfare in dairy farming, farms are improving their management practices to increase productivity. This study analyzed the feeding management of calves on dairy properties, emphasizing the welfare and health of young animals, to guide producers in adapting the physiological and behavioral needs of calves and, consequently, improving their productivity. For this study, the Scielo, Google Scholar and Pubmed databases. Feeding management is fundamental for the well-being of dairy calves, including colostrum, breastfeeding, weaning, feeding with concentrate, and access to water. Poor nutritional management can result in deficiencies, especially after weaning. Nutritional and environmental enrichment can improve calves’ diets. As a result, dietary management that follows the natural patterns of dairy calves has significantly improved their quality of life, reduced unwanted behaviors and promoted healthier development, leading to an increase in food consumption, reduced discomfort, and faster, healthier animal development, resulting in greater production.
