Summary: Temperature Humidity Index (ITU) is an indicator of the thermal conditions of the animal production environment. This index was estimated using values of air temperature and dew point temperature and its frequency distribution were calculated for hourly values in a monthly period for the area of Umuarama, PR, Brazil. To this place the medium monthly ITU values varied between 65 and 75. The interval of class of the most frequent values varied in agreement with each month of the year. In the summer period the largest frequency of values took place in the class between 70 and 80. It was also verified that the hourly values of ITU, except for the June month, were adjusted to a normal distribution of frequency.
