Summary: Dentre todos os nutrientes, o nitrogênio (N) é quantitativamente o mais importante para o crescimento das plantas (Engels & Marschner, 1995) e de pastagens estabelecidas com gramíneas (Monteiro et al., 2004), e o segundo fator mais limitante (o primeiro é a água) para o desenvolvimento das forrageiras (Jarvis et al., 1995).
