Summary: A área plantada com eucalipto no mundo é cerca de 17.861.000 ha (FAO, 2000). No Brasil, plantações de eucalipto (Eucalyptus spp. L'Her. e Corymbia spp. Hill & Johnson) acupam, aproximadamente, 3 milhões de ha, sendo que o setor de base florestal brasileiro representou 4% do PIB nacional.
