Summary: ABSTRACT: Ultrasonic energy is a promising tool in soil science. Soil aggregates breakdown susceptibility may have a significant effect on a range of soil physical properties of agronomic importance such as physical properties and erodibility. Soil dispersion characteristics curves give important informations about soil aggregate stability, and are influenced by soil mineralogy, organic matter and soil use and management. Interpretation of dispersion curves and the use of dispersion index and normalized dispersion index for aggregate stability assessment and the use of these indexes to estimate soil erodibility in brazilian soils are discussed.
