Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the 7-day Ceriodaphnia dubia survival and reproduction test with a 4 day test to evaluate the toxicity of oil refinery effluents. Both shown identical NOECs with three of 6 tested samples. With one of the tested samples, the 4-day NOEC was one tested-concentration lower, and with the remaining two samples, it was one tested-concentration higher than those obtained using the 7-day protocol. Then results suggested that 4 and 7-day protocols were comparable to detect toxic effects.
