Summary: ABSTRACT: In this work, scientific and international literature about nematode diversity is reviewed and discussed. Among multicelular animals, nematodes are the most abundant. They have different feeding habits (plant feeder, fungal feeder, bacterial feeder, predator of animals and omnivore) and many ecological roles in soils. They may be used as soil ecological indicators in agroecosystems and natural ecosystems, evaluating environmental disturbances, soil quality or sustainability.
