Summary: ABSTRACT: The management of phosphate fertilization in the Cerrado soils has been studied for almost 40 years and represents an extremely important technology towards to a successfull agricultural exploration of the region. However, many aspects related to soil phosphorus dynamic, availability, and its use efficiency by crops remain not well understood, and are relevant research themes. The possible utilization of distinct solubility phosphates, the field cropping history, and the influence of crop systems involving no tillage or crop-livestock integration may affect the efficiency of different fertilization strategies. This publication is a review about some of these topics and their relationship to the evolution of soil management in the Cerrado Region.
