Summary: Results in the characterization of wine terroir in the Serra do Sudeste viticultural region in south Brazil are reported in this paper. Thís area produces fine wines from Cabemet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabemet Franc, Ma!vasia de Candia, Sauvignon Blanc, Gammay, Riesling Itálico e Chardonnay. Several áreas in Brazil are bcing srudied to define ncw wine terroirs and improve the quality of Brazilian wincs.
