Summary: A Maedi-Visna (MV) é uma doença causada por um lentivírus que tem apresentação clínica associada à dispnéia e emagrecimento progressivo dos animais, apesar de normalmente não serem observados sintomas nos ovinos infectados. A prevalência desta enfermidade é baixa em todo o território nacional, portanto sendo muito importante o controle e prevenção desta enfermidade. Desta forma, este estudo objetivou avaliar a prevalência de MV em ovinos, em idade reprodutiva, nos municípios da microrregião de Sinop, Mato Grosso. Das 238 amostras coletadas, nenhuma foi reagente á prova de imunodifusão em ágar gel. Diante deste resultado, políticas de vigilância epidemiológica devem ser instituídas para manutenção deste status sanitário. Abstract: The Maedi-Visna (MV) is a disease caused by a lentivirus, which clinical aspect present dyspnoea and progressive weight loss, despite the subclinical aspect in infected sheep. This way, it is very important the control and prevention of this disease in sheep herds, indeed by the low taxes of prevalence in brazilian heerds verified until the moment. So, this study aimed to verify the prevalence of MV in herds from Sinop´ Micro region. 238 blood samples were collect form sheep in reproductive age in municipalities of the refereed region. No samples were positive by agar gel immunoddifusion in . Thus, epidemiological surveillance policies should be increased to keep this sanitary status.
