Summary: Objetivou-se neste trabalho verificar o perfil do produtor de leite caprino do município de Monteiro, estado da Paraíba. Os dados primários foram coletados através de entrevistas individuais, utilizando-se um questionário, aplicado em vinte e três propriedades selecionadas. Foram analisados os seguintes aspectos socioeconômicos: tempo na atividade, idade, sexo, escolaridade e dados de produção de leite. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise estatística do tipo descritiva. A pesquisa revelou que 52,0% dos produtores tinham até cinco anos de experiência na caprinocultura leiteira e, a maior parte deles, havia iniciado há pouco tempo no ramo. Houve uma concentração de produtores com faixa etária de 25 e 35 anos de idade, totalizando 48,0%, sendo a maioria do sexo masculino. Isso pode ser um indicativo da inserção da juventude no processo produtivo local. Houve um incremento de 13,0% dos produtores que conseguiram concluir o ensino médio quando comparado com o início na atividade. Existe a necessidade de informações e adoção de tecnologias para melhorar a produtividade e o leite comerciável. O aumento no grau de escolaridade dos produtores poderá contribuir com desenvolvimento do sistema de produção. Profile of goat milk producers of the city of Monteiro-PB: case study Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the profile of goat milk producer in the city of Montero, the state of Paraiba. Primary data were collected through individual interviews, using a questionnaire, applied to twenty-three properties. We analyzed the following socio-economic aspects: the length of service, age, gender, education and production data milk production. The results were subjected to statistical analysis of the descriptive type. The survey revealed that 52.0% of farmers have up to five years experience in the dairy goat and most recently started in this business. There is a concentration of producers in the range of 25 and 35 years old, totaling 48.0%. There was an increase in the level of education when compared producers of schooling in the early exploration to the present, from 4.0% to 13.0% of farmers with secondary education. According to the results we can see that the producers of Monteiro, PB, have little technical knowledge and possess a low level of organization for clarification and, therefore, suggest an intensification in the technical training so that the production and marketing become It is more streamlined, making it necessary studies to identify the main bottlenecks in the system of production so they can be used in making decisions aimed at improvement.
