The blackberry cultivar BRS Terena was obtained by crossing the cultivar BRS Tupy and the American variety 'Navaho'. Its main trait is the flavor of its berries: they are sweet, have low acidity, a bitter touch, sugar/acidity ratio above 13 and total soluble solids content of 11.3º Brix.

The berries offer long post-harvest conservation (better than BRS Tupy) and are recommended for fresh consumption. Each berry weighs between 5.5g and 7.3g. The plant stems have thorns, but in lower density than the cultivar BRS Tupy.

It is recommended for the same areas where BRS Tupy can be cultivated. In Pelotas, RS, Brazil, blooming occurs in the second half of October and maturation, in late November - 10 days after BRS Tupy. Average yield is 1.2 kg per plant.
