BRS Sunki Tropical is recommended for use as a rootstock in combination with sweet orange, tangerine and pomelo scions, promoting high vigor and good fruit productivity.

It induces beneficial effects against the main problems of citriculture, being tolerant to the tristeza virus, decline, sudden death and salinity, besides being more resistant to gummosis than common Sunki mandarin. The BRS Sunki Tropical cultivar is an improved selection of Sunki mandarin obtained by Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura, originally known as BRS CNPMF Tropical (Citrus sunki (Hayata) hort. ex Tanaka).
