The Multifunctional Inoculant for Pastures with Brachiaria grasses, containing Azospirillum brasilense and Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteria, can be used both as pastures are established, with seed application, and in already established pastures, through leaf application. The technology allows not only higher production of forage biomass (22% on average) but also an increase in the quality of forage: 13% of N, 10% of K and 30% of P on average. This represents not only more feed for cattle, but also better quality feed. In addition, the inoculant helps in the recovery of soil fertility and contributes environmentally by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. PASTOMAX is the first technological package with multifunctional inoculation technology for pastures with Brachiaria grasses available on the market, the result of a decade-long public-private partnership with Biotrop.

This technological solution was developed by Embrapa in partnership with other institution(s).
