The anatomical packaging systems developed by Embrapa Food Technology in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) National Institute of Technology and Macromolecular Institute (IMA) were Diamond finalists at The Packaging Innovation Awards. Check the nominees and the winners in the video here. The award honors innovations in packaging design, materials, technology and processes across the entire packaging value chain.

The researcher Antonio Gomes, one of the project leaders, celebrated: “We are finalists! They deem Diamond award finalists as winners too. I feel privileged to be among the finalists. They include excellent and innovative packaging options”.

The packaging for mangoes, strawberries, persimmons and papayas was designed to reduce fruit injury caused by piling, shocks and trepidation, and keep fruit adequately refrigerated, among other properties that reduce losses. Check a full news report about the packaging at Embrapa's web portal.
