Embrapa joins Brazilian delegation at plant health conference in London

From September 21st to 23rd, the General Head of Embrapa Cassava and Fruits, Francisco Laranjeira, represents Embrapa at the International Plant Health Conference, an event held in London, UK. At the invitation of Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Laranjeira is part of the Brazilian delegation and this Thursday (22), in a panel on integrated pest management, he presents results regarding studies on citrus greening (HLB) carried out by Embrapa Cassava & Fruits in partnership with agricultural defense authorities.

Pictured above, the Brazilian delegation at the event: Graciane Castro, Carlos Goulart, Erika Mangili, Edilene Cambraia, all from MAPA's plant health area, and Laranjeira. This Wednesday (21), Goulart presented a study regarding pests of higher risk to plant health in Brazil, developed by agricultural defense authorities, in partnership with Embrapa (pictured below).

Race 4 of Fusarium, a banana pest that still has not reached Brazil and which is the subject of several studies carried out by Embrapa, was mentioned in the event as one of the most relevant pests in the world by Martin Kropff, global director of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

The United Kingdom's Minister for Rural Affairs, Richard Benyon, opened the conference (pictured below).
