Failures to transmit information significantly impair the coordination and interaction between the different agents in the milk production chain. A large number of nationally based companies and a myriad of producers and policy makers face the challenge of structuring themselves for competition in a globalized business world. The main objective of the project was to provide information, structural analysis and monitoring of conjunctural developments in the milk production chain, in order to meet the needs of the MINAS LEITE program of the State of Minas Gerais, through the operation of the Milk Intelligence Center (CILeite). The synthesis of the methodology was the following: structuring of the databases for the storage and management of strategic information for the milk agribusiness; collection, tabulation and organization of information; development of performance indicators; and analysis of data collected, indicators of performance and trends of the productive sector. Among the results obtained, we highlight the construction of the CILeite homepage with information on the production chain systematized in the reports “Main milk and Milk Products Indicators”, “Main Agricultural Indicators”, “Main Macroeconomic Indicators” and “Milk Cost of Production Index – ICPLeite/Embrapa” as well as the dissemination of the "Panorama do Leite" newsletter. The activities also contributed to the approximation of agents in the production chain. The following impacts are expected: reducing the cost of obtaining relevant information for agribusiness agents, contributing both to the coordination of efforts and to the decision making of agents in the productive chain.
