The project aimed to use and develop methodologies for expansion and training of multipliers in dairy farming to make reach the farmers products, processes and technologies already generated by Embrapa Dairy Cattle, thus contributing to the improvement of life in the countryside. The strategy was focused on partnership and cooperation among institutions for the development and use of innovative and traditional mechanisms to modernize the dairy production chain in Brazil. Technology transfer was based on two processes, as follows: (A) Traditional methodologies of recognized efficacy, such as field days, courses, technical events, lectures and answering service to citizens (SAC) via e-mail; and (B) Innovative methodologies such as REPILeite - Embrapa Network for Research and Innovation in Dairy, Totem of Technologies in Dairy – a self-service kiosk, Showcase of Dairy Technologies, EAD - Distance Learning, and video/virtual model of good practices in milk production. As a result of the project, we had numerous on-site training courses; two distance-learning courses; twelve booklets on various technical themes written in the literacy level of the farmer; release of 22 self-service kiosks (Totems), which bring to the farmer and/or technician the knowledge that is available; creation of an interactive environment on milk production chain specific to children, in addition to holding several field days, technical lectures, workshops, symposia, seminars and technical meetings. The impact of these initiatives for the milk production chain is perceived in the training of 6,000 multipliers, which transfer knowledge to more than 50,000 farmers.
