Development programs aimed at increasing production, improve milk quality and assist genetic selection of livestock are strategic initiatives to modernize the dairy chain in Brazil. Farmers, mostly family-scale, need special guidance to access technological information and training programs to increase production and improve productivity of the dairy herd. In addition, action plans and strategies to improve milk quality are essential in order to promote their inclusion in the formal dairy market. This project made freely available in the Web an information system named Gisleite, designed to organize dairy production records to guide the decision-making of dairy farmers and other dairy chain agents. It is structured to register and process data from dairy farming systems to calculate key performance indicators related to animal production and reproduction and the economic efficiency of the dairy system. It deliveries action lists to guide daily herd management decisions and managerial reports that allow the evaluation of the dairy production system and assist the strategic decision-making process.
