The TecRede project aims to generate technologies that would, in a short period of time, the development of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) cultivation in cage systems. The project chose the tambaqui to foment the development of cage fish farming since it is a fish native to Amapá, which has favorable domestic and international market demand, with production absorption capacity. The research network intends to determine the standardization of techniques and production systems based on Good Production Practices (GPP) for tambaqui, aiming to solve the obstacles pointed out by producers, in addition to technologies for industrial processing. The main impacts intended were: Cost reduction in the proper tambaqui management, technology transfer to the productive sector in several Brazilian locations, innovations based on GPP; making feasible the production of these fish with higher quality and improving the generation of income for some populations directly involved in the project.
