Brazil is the fifth largest producer of milk in the world with 35 billion liters produced in 2015. However, Brazilian dairy farmers still need improve milk quality and reduce production costs. One of the major limiting factors to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of milk production in Brazil is the management of dairy farms. In this context, Embrapa Gado de Leite developed, in partnership with the Central Cooperative of Rural Producers of Minas Gerais -(Cooperativa Central dos Produtores Rurais de Minas Gerais) – CCPR-MG, a tool to verify the economic performance of dairy farming, based on the simplification of data collection and the incorporation of indicators traditionally used in the urban environment to measure financial and accounting performance. Conceived in an open innovation process and already in use by 60 farmers, the GepLeite tool includes a platform for collecting and processing data in software format, both in its online and desktop versions, and has been available to the public since 2017. Expanding the adoption of this tool collides with the following two issues, both fundamental for the establishment of business models in tools of greater complexity: establishment of distribution channels and optimizing the relationship with the customer. This project aims to develop strategies to make the adoption of the GepLeite management tool greater. Specifically, it aims to implement and evaluate alternative models of technological business and to build the appropriate model for the dissemination of the GepLeite tool. To this end, the following initiatives are underway: communication and relationship through direct transfer to the user (technicians and farmers), communication and relationship through assisted transfer to the user, evaluation of the experiences and development of the business model, development of the business plan and development of the mobile application. The following results are expected: training of multiplier agents, advancement of knowledge, institutional arrangement and the production of an application for external customers. Among the expected impacts of the project are the strengthening of partnerships with the private sector, the strengthening of Embrapa's image as a reference in milk production management, and efficiency gains and competitiveness of the dairy chain.
