Improving, expanding and strengthening the dairy cattle strategic and competitive intelligence system – Intelactus
Embrapa has built a highly conducive environment for the use of strategic and competitive intelligence to support action planning and scheduling and to provide important information to the different agents in the supply chains to which it relates. This is expressed in Embrapa's Agropensa (Strategic Intelligence System) dedicated to producing and disseminating knowledge and information in support of the formulation of research, development and innovation strategies for the corporation and its partner institutions. In this context, CILeite (Milk Intelligence Center) is a reference within the Agropensa and in the milk production chain. It is through this platform that Embrapa Dairy Cattle releases diverse knowledge and information produced by its technical team on the following topics: production chain studies, evaluation of production systems, management tools and territorial and market intelligence. This project aims to restructure and strengthen the process of dairy strategic and competitive intelligence to guide the programming at Embrapa focused on dairy agribusiness, as well as the decisions of the different players of the sector. This results necessary in view of the intense transformation that has been going through the milk production chain, which has brought to light new research and development problems and new needs for actions of technology transfer. Initially, the project seeks to define a new intelligence process by establishing the activities that are conducted at each point of the process, which includes the management of information originating from the external environment with the prospecting of trends in the sector and the management of databases. From this process on, the project generates and organizes the data and information that are used in analyzes, guiding the process of reviewing Embrapa's planning and programming, and communicating with dairy sector agents through publications and analyzes that are taken to the outside public. The main expected results are: process of dairy strategic and competitive intelligence restructured; capacity building of the team in tools and methodologies of information management, prospecting and prioritization; management system of the Embrapa Dairy Cattle’s socioeconomic database; prospective study with signs and trends of the milk supply chain; contribution to dairy-oriented public policies in Brazil; and strategic socioeconomic information available to agents in the milk supply chain.
