Summary: Resumo: Objetivou-se descrever a estrutura populacional, endogamia e quantificar o seu efeito sobre o peso ao nascer de ovinos da raça Somalis Brasileira. Dados genealógicos de 1381 ovinos da raça Somalis nascidos entre 1997 a 2014pertencente a EMBRAPA Caprinos e Ovinos em Sobral?CE foram analisados usando o software Endog (v.4.6) para a obtenção da taxa de endogamia F e para aumento da endogamia. Não houve significância da endogamia sobre o peso ao nascer. [Inbreeding effects on birthweight in Somalis sheep breed]. Abstract: The aim of this study was to describe the population structure, inbreeding and to quantify their effect for birthweight in Somalis sheep breed. Genealogical data of 1381 of Somalis sheep breed born between 1997 to 2014 belonging to Embrapa Goats and Sheep in Sobral-CE were analyzed using Endog software (v.4.6) to obtain the inbreeding rate F and increasing of inbreeding. There was no significance of inbreeding on birthweight.
