Summary: A brusone do trigo, causada pelo fungo Pyricularia oryzae Cavara [teleomorfo: Magnaporthe oryzae (T.T. Hebert) M.E. Barr], é uma doença capaz de afetar diversas gramíneas, em especial a cultura do trigo. Identificada no Brasil, no estado do Paraná em 1985 (Igarashi et al., 1986), o patógeno se disseminou rapidamente na Bolívia, Paraguai, Argentina, Uruguai, e mais recentemente foi reportado na Ásia ? Índia e Bangladesh (Islam et al., 2016; Malaker et al., 2016).
