Summary: ABSTRACT: The objective of this research was to evaluate the yield of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) under the influence of three levels of soil water tension. The research was carried out at the Embrapa Cerrados, Planaltina - DF. We used an experimental design of randomized blocks with three replications. The treatments consisted of three levels of soil water tension, namely 30 kPa, 60 kPa and 500 kPa and five peanut cultivars: Tupã, Tatu, Oirã, Poitara and Caiapó under microsplinkler irrigation. The results showed that different levels of soil water tension applied on the moment of irrigation influenced the yield at a statistic and significant level. The irrigated treatment at tension of 500 kPa supplanted all others. It showed an increase of 61,4% in relation to 50 kPa treatment and showed no statistical difference from 30 kPa treatment. The averages of yield of the cultivars were not different. However the best treatment of water management of the Tatu cultivar (80% of peanuts from São Paulo State) reached about 3.000 kg ha-1. The total of water applied was about 400 mm throught 12 irrigations with a dosage of 33 mm applied at intervals of 9,3 days. Then its recomended irrigate peanuts at 500 kPa of soil water tension at 10 cm of soil depht or at 61 kPa at 30 cm of soil depth in Cerrado soil.
