It serves the fresh fruit market, producing fruit in the off-season. It can also be used for juice processing and essential oil extraction.
The BRS Passos acid lime tree is a good alternative for family farming, since, even in a very small production area, lemon generates profit.
It apresents a productivity markedly higher than the regional average (t/ha) and tends to flower throughout the year.
Among the main competitive advantages are: response to the induction of flowering through fertilization management, allowing production in the off-season, as well as longer shelf life and a lower rate of floral abortion. Furthermore, it can be produced as a consortium with other crops, such as some vegetables.
