BRS 286 is a highly productive cultivar with an average yield of 4,874 kg/ha of seed cotton and 1,995 kg/ha of cotton wool, in addition to a fiber yield above 40%. Harvests occur between 140 and 160 days after emergence (DAE), with the use of a defoliant and a maturator. The plants are medium to small sized, reaching between 110 and 120 cm in height. It is a cultivar that is recommended for the Cerrado areas of the Brazilian states of Bahia, Maranhão and Piauí, which also adapts well to the conditions of the Brazilian semi-arid region, both in upland and irrigated conditions.
