The BRS Zamir tomato cultivar is a grape-segment hybrid for fresh consumption, whose emphasis is its high content of lycopene, an antioxidant that fights against the free radicals in the body. The cultivar represents a new generation of enriched hybrids: the content of antioxidant pigment lycopene reaches up to 144 μg/g, while other commercial hybrids from the grape segment that are available in the Brazilian market obtain around 40 μg/g.

The fruits are long and weigh between 10 and 15 grams. They remain well conserved after harvest – up to 18 days at room temperature; and have a sweet taste and an adequate balance of organic acids, with a soluble solids content of up to 11°Brix.

The cultivar is recommended for all Brazilian producing regions, in protected cultivation or in open fields during the dry season. The growth habit is indeterminate; it is recommended for staking; and the beginning of the harvest occurs 80 days after transplanting. In protected cultivation, the BRS Zamir tomato has a production potential in the range of 6 to 8 kg of fruits per plant.

This cultivar has a gene that stimulates increased bifurcation of bunches, increasing the number of fruits per bunch and resulting in greater productivity. The BRS Zamir plant has a good rusticity and foliar cover. It also has tolerance to begomovirus and resistance to Fusarium wilt (races 1 and 2), whorl wilt (race 1), and stenophylla wilt.
