Agriculture is usually the first activity implemented in integrated crop-livestock systems, then followed by forage. Nevertheless, São Mateus system starts the sequence with forage and soybean is cultivated afterwards. With that specific rotation, soil chemical correction is performed before the forage, enabling liming to properly react until soybean is cultivated. Also, forage roots can help build a soil structure that favors moisture conditions and residues for soybean cropping in succession in no-till.
