URS BRS Mesclador is a red clover cultivar selected for persistence and forage production in southern Brazil. As it is a temperate species, it naturally produces high-quality forage, with emphasis on high levels of protein. In addition, due to the symbiosis with bacteria of the Rhizobium genus, it can fixate a good amount of atmospheric nitrogen, reducing costs and eventual risks to the environment. The cultivar is indicated for intercropping with winter grasses and for overseeding in a natural field in well-drained areas with good fertility. Cultivar developed in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and the South-Brazilian Association for the Promotion and Research of Forages (SULPASTO).
