The wheat cultivar BRS 254 was developed by Embrapa Wheat in partnership with Embrapa Cerrados as an alternative for crop rotation in the production system of the Cerrado region of Central Brazil. It presents excellent productivity and excellent industrial quality. It was developed according to the standards required by the market, so that producers have sound liquidity of the product when marketing. The average productivity of BRS 254 is 6,000kg/ha in crops under irrigated cultivation in the Cerrado, with the use of growth reducer and nitrogen rates up to 130kg/ha (base + cover). It has a height of 86 cm, early cycle, 55 days until swelling and 115 until maturation. It is resistant to natural threshing and presents excellent technological quality, being classified as an improved wheat. It is indicated for: MG, MT, GO, DF and BA.
