FAQ
Where can I buy the seedlings and seeds of Embrapa's cultivars?
In principle, we need to clarify that Embrapa only has information about the cultivars developed within its research programs.
Several species are genetically enhanced (either through conventional breeding or transgenics) in the company's laboratories and experimental fields. Once they are fully developed, the resulting cultivars - identified by the acronym BRS, followed by their number or name - are transferred through contracts to people or companies that, in the capacity of Embrapa licensees, multiply the vegetative material and directly sell seeds and seedlings.
Embrapa's cultivars can be found at: www.embrapa.br/cultivares. In that web environment it is possible to find a brief description of each product, see pictures, check points of sale and even download documents that contain more detailed information about each technology.
Can Embrapa donate seedlings for me?
The company does not have seeds or seedlings for donation. The cultivars from Embrapa's research projects are produced and traded by our licensees. Embrapa only produces (basic or genetic) seeds or propagules of the cultivars it develops to meet licensees' demand to produce seedlings.
If you want to acquire the seeds or seedlings of Embrapa's cultivars, look for one of our licensees by accessing the web page: www.embrapa.br/cultivares.
How do I send pictures? I need rural technical assistance.
Embrapa does not provide rural technical assistance services. Technical assistance and rural extension institutions are responsible for the technical, economic and social guidance of farmers in each city district. The Brazilian Association of State Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Agencies - Asbraer coordinates the public technical assistance and rural extension network in Brazil.
Embrapa is responsible for making research, development and innovation solutions for the sustainability of agriculture possible, for the benefit of Brazilian society. To have such solutions be put into practice in the field with farmers from all over the country, we rely on (public or private) technical assistance and rural extension professionals.
Therefore, for matters related to crops, information on how, where and when to sow and harvest, and other technical information, we suggest that you contact the technical assistance corporation in your region. On Asbraer's web page, you can find the nearest public corporation.
