The project QUALIMICRO - Implementation and Monitoring of Quality Systems in Embrapa's Microbial Collections aims to implement the corporate quality requirements in 21 collections of microorganisms from 18 research units of the Company located in several Brazilian states. The Project will guarantee the quality in the management of these collections and make them able to meet the requirements of the national and international market. Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF) is one of the most important natural processes in the planet. It is either conducted by bacteria in the soil or added by inoculants, which associate with plant roots to capture and transform nitrogen from the air. Plants cannot assimilate atmospheric nitrogen by themselves. Therefore, the presence of nitrogen fixing bacteria in the soil composition is important. A legume that has been understudied with regard to its interaction with nitrogen fixing bacteria is Status: Completed Start date: Tue Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2013 |
Embrapa invests in the conservation of native strains of microorganisms, which can be used by the scientific community in several research programs, ranging from diagnosis, treatment of diseases and production of vaccines for human and animal application to reducing the environmental impact of Productive processes and the generation of renewable energy. In this perspective, microbial cultures are being continuously studied for the formation of a database of "active" components and their respecti ... One of the largest livestock problems in Southern Brazil has been the scantiness of varieties of forage species more adapted to this region. In addition, due to global warming and the demand for increased productivity with reduced use of inputs, there is a need of studies on germplasm tolerance to abiotic stresses such as drought, and the evaluation of symbiotic organisms to promote biological nitrogen fixation in grasses. Thus, this project aimed to develop improved populations of some of the m Status: Completed Start date: Sun Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
