The goal of the project is to learn the capacity of the current production systems and of alternative technologies focused on carbon accumulation and sequestration in the soil and on reducing (direct or indirect) greenhouse gas - GHG - emissions. Such knowledge is essential for the investigation and foresight of future scenarios and for the planning of public policy to encourage the adoption of global warming mitigation practices. This project comprises the investigation and analysis of grain pr Status: Completed Start date: Sat Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
The internal audits appoint the procedures that are not in accordance with the norms and legislation of the Firm. The institution being audited presents the justifications and clarifications, establishing a deadline for the adjustment of those irregularities. This project aims to study nutritional factors and establish new types of diets for tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus), pintado ( Pseudoplatystoma corruscans), tambaqui ( Colossoma macropomum) and marine shrimp ( Litopenaeus vannamei.), species inserted into production chains still incipient in Brazil. Due to the differentiated state of each species, studies were conducted in oreder to fill the nutritional gaps in key technological areas in which each species had greate ... The infection of the swine herd with Salmonella and consequently, the presence of this micro-organism in swine products, has been a serious concern since it can be a great threat to the consumers themselves. Embrapa Swine and Poultry and UFRGS teamed up to develop tools and epidemiological studies that can characterize the problem, the contamination sources and the infection dynamics in the country's southern herds. This project aims to propose a systematic control of the Salmonella infection in Status: Completed Start date: Sat Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
Society has become increasingly aware of the need to preserve the environment and health, demanding quality standards for food and agro-ecosystems. In this context, the rational use of phytosanitary products guarantees the sustainability of food production systems, mitigating, and even eliminating the effects caused by the indiscriminate use of chemical control. Other relevant aspects to be considered are the benefits arising from the crop-livestock integration that mitigate the negative effects Status: Completed Start date: Wed Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
The culture of black pepper ( Piper nigrum L.) is of great socio-economical importance in the northern states of Brazil, Pará especially. However, its production has been suffering the incidence of diseases such as the one caused by the Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV) and the Piper yellow mottle virs (PYMoV). Although these viruses have already been reported in many of the Brazilian states, there are too few studies that address the virus diseases which affect this culture. Hence, this project ... The state of Pará is the largest northern producer of rice, corn and caupi beans, and the second largest soy producer. These species are cultivated in all the macro-regions of the state, where the Research and Technology Transfer Support Centers (NAPTs) of the Oriental Amazon are located. Based on this structure, this project aims to propose a strategy for the disclosure and transference of cultivars that are adequate to the region's producers' socio-economic and environmental conditions, throug ... The pest aphids Sipha flava and Rhopalosiphum padi have caused significant injuries in elephantgrass and brachiaria swards, respectively. Thus, the objective of this project was to evaluate the bioecology of these pest insects and the predator Chrysoperla externa. The biological aspects of the pests were studied at 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32ºC. Temperatures of 20ºC and 24ºC were more favorable for insect development, and this temperature range is the most appropriate for t ... Studies on risk factors in dairy herds and their economic impact are available in countries with developed dairy production. This information is used to direct and prioritize procedures that improve herd health and avoid problems such as high total bacterial count and presence of antimicrobial residues in milk. In countries with developed dairy farming most herds are comprised of high-producing animals of specialized breeds and raised in total or partial confinement systems. In Brazil, there is Status: Completed Start date: Wed Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
The assets of a company have unquestionable value. Thus, their effective management is necessary. This management has been automated, i.e. the agent registers the assets with software and can report on it. However, the movements of goods from one place to another is unavoidable, and thus agents can lose their new location if they are not warned about the displacement. Thus, it is periodically necessary to make a complete survey of the property and then update the database. This project aims to b Status: Completed Start date: Sun Jul 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
