Graduated in Forestry Eng. at Escola Superior de Agricultura Luíz de Queiroz , ESALQ-USP (Piracicaba-SP 1978), Master in Forestry - North Carolina State University - NCSU (Raleigh, NC USA1987) and doctorate at same NCSU (1990). Working focus on Silviculture, Genetic and Native Forestry Resources Conservation, dealing mainly with forestry management, diversity and species conservation at populational genetic structure level, for Conservation of Forests and Local Sustainable Development. Coordinated from Nov.1991 to Ago.1998 the project SHIFT-Capoeira (CNPq-IBAMA-DRL/Bmb+f, Alemanha; nowadays Tipitamba project, searching for alternatives to slash-and-burn systems for food production. Acted as Executive Secretary for Committee Research Programme "Forestry and Agroforestry Production Systems for Embrapa and National Agricultural Research System - SNPA", from Jun.1993 to Apr. 2001. Conception and Coordination of "Dendrogene Project - Genetic Conservation of Managed Forests in the Amazon", 2000-2004 (bilateral coop. Brazil-United Kingdom, MRE/Embrapa-DFID), in collaboration with national and international institutions with important outputs in: tree taxonomy and better species identification, growth and reproductive ecology of tree species, growth and genetic modeling, to assure use, management and conservation of tropical forestry resources. Acting in national and international Committees, Boards and Projects related to Forest Genetic and Tropical Forests Management and Conservation. Also, Research and Development PDI Director at Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (Belém-PA) from Mar.2008 to Sept. 2009. Manager of Thematic Group Natural Forests Management from Mar.2007 to Sept. 2009, International Articulador at Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (mar. 2000 to jun.2011). Embrapas representant at Public Forests Management Commission - CGFLOP (SFB/MMA), from Jun.2006 to Dec.2011. Coordinator for Embrapa Amazônia Oriental in the internacional Project "Floresta em Pé", national coordinated by IBAMA, with participation of IIEB, GRET and CIRAD, Sept.2009 to Dec. 2011.
