Mini-curriculum

Marco Machado, Agronomist (UFV, 1991), PhD in Molecular Genetics (UFV, 1999). His thesis work was developed at Monsanto?s Molecular Breeding Lab (Saint Louis, MO) where he worked with AFLP markers. Dr. Machado has also worked with RAPD, RFLP and STR markers in plant and animal genomes. He set up the DNA sequencing lab for the Biotechnology Institute of the Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil and has experience with fluorescence automated machines. Dr. Machado has Joined Embrapa team in 1999 and is currently responsible for the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the Dairy Cattle Research Center. He is now involved with projects to detect Quantitative Trait Loci for disease resistance traits and heat stress in bovine and DNA characterization of forage germplasm.
